Essentially Ellington

For the second year in a row, the Hall High School Concert Jazz Band was selected as an Essentially Ellington Finalist for 2019! In May 2019, CJB celebrated the seminal compositions of Duke Ellington and Benny Golson, with the 14 other finalist bands from across the nation. From hundreds of recording submissions from the US and Canada, Hall's CJB was one of the top three bands from the region stretching from Canada to Washington D.C. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the WHPS community!

In May of 2019, Hall was honored with the following group and individual awards:

Outstanding Trombone Section (Gavin Baker, Jacob Dembo, Max Harris, Eli Heinen and Leah O'Brien)
Outstanding Guitar Soloist: Brennen Ravenberg
Outstanding Trombone Soloist: Eli Heinen
Outstanding Bass Trombone: Gavin Baker
Outstanding Tenor Saxophone Soloist: Noah Yontef Mathog
Honorable Mention Soloist Clarinet: Val Barrieau
Honorable Mention Soloist Bass: Gavin Gray
